"WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS" !!!
Guards sportsmen brought home yet more silverware on Bahrain national sports day as they beat all comers to take the championship title in the Police volleyball competition.
Against stiff opposition from the Police academy and Muharraq and Capital Governorate Police stations the guards training, commitment and superior fitness paid off.
“This is a great result for our boys….” Said Brigadier Khalid Al-Wazzan the Director General of Guards. “It proves what we in the guards have been saying for some time, with determination, organization and training there is nothing we cannot achieve.”
The sports day event also included Tug-O-War and other sports and was held at the Guards Training Centre, Safrah on 7 February as part of the National sports Day which aims to promote the idea of sports as a way to a healthy mind and body.
The General Directorate of guards has a long and successful sporting history with teams regularly involved in league cricket, football, tennis and athletics. ‘
